Maximizing Bar Code Performance: A Look at Error Correction
October 05, 2007
by Bob Dunphy and Ben Hejl
An ideal printing and imaging environment for reading bar codes would include each symbol printed according to it’s specifications without printing defects and each perfect bar code would be scanned into digital memory with good focus, good modulation, no distortion and no noise. These images would always be decoded with no errors and error detection or error correction would not be necessary. full article
An Evaluation of 2D Bar Codes in Document Processing Applications
August 02, 2007
by Bob Dunphy and Ben Hejl
A brief article focussing on the use of 2D symbols in document processing applications. In particular, the relative merits of three popular public domain 2D symbologies are compared: Data Matrix, QR Code and Micro QR Code. Following a brief overview of each symbology, a comparison of their data density, error correction, and relative processing speed is conducted. full article
